Links to my articles for Computerworld on Zoe Baird (President of the Markle Foundation - which focuses on Health Care IT and National Security ) and Adam Bosworth (x-head of Google Health and founder of Keas) are online. Both of these individuals are helping to advance healthcare IT in amazing ways and are passionate about improving our lives.

Update

It's been quite a busy month. I just wrapped a three day project with NordicTrack and am out to shoot a couple of tennis pros at a court in the UN Plaza Hotel in the morning. Also excited to report that I have a couple of shots in Fitness Magazine and one in Runner's World this month.

I will be getting back to my technology profile articles in November when things slow down a bit. Can't wait to get some new interviews in the works.

Projects

I know it has been a while since I have posted. It's been a busy couple of months. In honor of the upcoming NYC Marathon on Nov 1 I thought I would post a link to some shots I did of the starting line of the LA Marathon a couple years back. They can be found here. More recently, I have been working with a lot of fitness companies and magazines including Fitness, Runner's World, NordicTrack and others on upcoming projects. I think there may be something in the works with Scientific American online sometime soon, but that is still tbd. I will be back with updates!

Aspen Health Forum

The Aspen Institute is holding their annual Aspen Health Forum next week. Many highly influential leaders in health care, politics, technology, research and business will be speaking. It should be an amazing forum. I am profiling Zoe Baird and Adam Bosworth for editorials.

A few quick updates....

1. Big news on the Pixil Qi homefront: http://pixelqi.com/blog1/2009/02/02/product-freeze/ Mary Lou Jepsen's screens are going to be a huge hit...I'm sure of it. The sample screens look beautiful. In a recent email to me, she stated that she's back in Taipei to continue with the manufacturing process. Really looking forward to this...

2. New profile: David Merrill. He works on Siftables - tiny block sized computers which interact with one another in various ways. AMAZING stuff. Check out his TED talk here. I just spent some time with him last week so his article won't be published for a couple of months....but the TED talk should tie you over until then. (Image above.)

3. I also recently spent some time with Shawn Broderick talking about his company Techstars. A very selective program which offers mentorship, funding and education to start ups. (Image above)

3. Profile/Interview I did on Caroline Ross is online here. Ross's work focuses on enhancing computer performance by using nanomagnets

4. Last but not least....My new website should be up in less than 2 weeks. FINALLY!

Predicting Foreign Policy Using Mathmatics: Bruce Bueno de Mesquita

Bruce Bueno de Mesquita is my next profile/interview for Computerworld and for my "Faces of Innovation" project. Bruce combines mathmatics and computer science to predict the results of political issues worldwide, such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the future state of Iran. The CIA and Department of Defense look to him for consulting and he recently founded his own company, Mesquita & Roundell. As if this isn't enough, he is also a professor at NYU and Stanford. Here is a link to his recent presentation at a TED talk.

Can you hold? My plant's on the other line...

Another profile I am working on for my "Faces of Innovation" project (and another Computerworld article) is NYU professor Rob Faludi. He is a sociable object genius who is interested in creating ways in which humans can communicate with inanimate objects. Much of this is done using wireless sensors (ie the XBee radios). One example is a kit which allows your favorite leafy plant friend to send you a Twitter message on your phone when it needs water. Soon we will be applying this concept to many objects. Other projects include using similar technology to create light in dark spaces and help combat climate change. More information can be found here.
